- Openings to 8 000mm wide
- 0.8mm–1.2mm galvanised slat
- Chain hoist or motorised
Alrode is one of the heavier industrial belts in Gauteng, and it shows in the doors. Chemical, steel, manufacturing and transport operations through Alrode and Alrode South run large purpose-built openings, much of it around the clock, in an atmosphere that is harder on steel than an ordinary industrial site. On those buildings the door is production equipment, not a fitting.
How we build industrial roller shutter doors
- Heavy-gauge curtains chosen for the cycle count the opening actually sees, not the opening width.
- Deep guides so a knocked curtain stays in its channel instead of coming out of the building.
- Barrels sized on deflection across the real span, which is what stops a wide door bowing.
- Industrial drives with proper duty ratings and a manual override an operator can reach.
Coating specification for a corrosive atmosphere
This is the question that separates a door that lasts fifteen years in Alrode from one that is failing at four. Near process and chemical plant we specify heavier galvanising, two-pack or marine-grade coatings, and stainless or coated hardware, and we ask what is actually in the air before quoting. A standard finish on a corrosive site is not a saving, it is a shorter replacement cycle.
High-cycle doors for transport and cross-dock operations
Freight operations on the corridor cycle their doors constantly on a schedule that does not wait. Those openings get industrial side drives, heavy bearings and a curtain edge specified for the wear, and where the count is high enough a high-speed door is the correct answer rather than running a shutter faster than it was built to move.
Impact protection on plant yards
Tanker, forklift and heavy vehicle movement in tight yards accounts for most industrial door damage here. We specify deeper guides, fit bollards or impact posts where the traffic justifies it, and build the check into the maintenance schedule.
Structural steel around old openings
Many Alrode openings are framed in steel that has been in service for decades and has lost section in a corrosive atmosphere. We assess what the guides are going to bolt to and quote the steel repair separately, because a heavy new door on failing steel is a serious hazard rather than a maintenance issue.
Fire-rated and insulated industrial doors
Where a compartment line runs through an opening the door must be a rated, certified assembly that drops when it is told to. Where a building is temperature-controlled we build insulated curtains with proper seals. Both are quoted as what they are, certification included.
Three-phase power, controls and enclosures
Most Alrode sites have three-phase available. What needs equal attention is the control gear: panels, buttons and safety-edge cabling in a process area need sealed enclosures with the right ingress rating, or they become a fault every few months.
What an industrial roller shutter door costs in Alberton
The price follows the span, the gauge, the coating specification, the duty rating of the drive and any structural work, quoted as separate lines. Survey and quote are free.
